24 is the Badass-est!

Hey! Whats up. Haven't updated in a bit. Thought you might want an update. Over the weekend, I bought a used mandolin. I found it on craigslist.org for amazingly little. I thought it would be a good match for me since my money is also amazingly little. I have learned only one song, the old-timey "Whiskey Before Breakfast," and I have gotten pretty good at playing it. On a related note, Stacey now hates the song "Whiskey Before Breakfast."

I anxiously await the arrival of my iPod. 40 gigs of fertile storage space headed my direction, just yearning to be impregnated with the whole of my musical....hmmm. The imagery has gotten far too graphic, so I am just going to stop now before I disgust myself.

:(

So my birthday wish did not come true. The Seattle Seahawks were eliminated yesterday from the NFC playoffs. As let down as I am, I must admit that I was not that surprised. The final drive of the game is a fitting metaphor of the entire Seahawks season: a promising start, a steady progression down the stretch, and topped off with an ever-so-close, but ultimately disappointing finale.

Oh well, there’s always next year. Although, in this case, the cliché might not be accurate, as 11 of the Seahawks players are up for free agency this year, including Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck; not to mention the possible firing of head coach, Mike Holmgren. Perhaps a more fitting meaningless platitude would be something about it being a “building year”. BAH!

I’m too disgusted to go on.

What do Elvis, Stephen Hawking and I have in common?

I haven’t posted for a while due to the crazy holiday schedule. I am sure you understand. I think I have seen my family more times in the past couple weeks than I had the whole of last year. It has been rough. Do not lose heart, as tomorrow is my birthday. Not only will it be a fantastic celebration of the anniversary of my birth, but it also marks the last event in which Stacey and I are obliged to spend a considerable amount of time with my parents. What a wonderful gift that will be.

Speaking of gifts, did you remember my birthday? That’s ok. I have you covered. (You can thank me later.)

This weekend is chock full of exciting birthday events. Kevin and Kim bought me (and Kevin…how convenient) a ticket to the Seahawks’ playoff game against the Rams tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing the first playoff victory for the Seahawks in over one hundred years. It will truly be a historic event.

Also, Stacey has a surprise brewing for me. All I know is that I have to keep Sunday open so that we can do something together for my birthday. I have a few ideas about what it might be. I just wonder how she was able to afford such a lavish getaway. With the dollars slide against the Euro, it must be outrageously expensive. I think she has been secretly saving. A sneaky one, that girl.
